Description
Located in the historic West End district of downtown Greenville, South Carolina, Falls Park on the Reedy encompasses 32 acres along the scenic Reedy River. The park is best known for the iconic Liberty Bridge, one of the few single-sided suspension pedestrian bridges in the world. Constructed in just 12 months, Liberty Bridge spans 345 feet while measuring 12 feet wide and only 8 inches thick. Supported by a single suspension cable, its reinforced concrete deck features a graceful 214-foot-radius curve and is cantilevered toward the waterfall from supporting cables positioned along the outside of the bridge. The bridge deck also rises 12 feet, a 3 percent grade, from east to west as it crosses the river.
